Its resources span from self-diagnosis, blogs, and health education, to insurance assistance and checking physician credentials.   • Help Quitting Smoking
  • This is a free site to help you quit smoking. It is sponsored by the government and endorsed by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
  • Virginia Advance Directive
  • This document will help you write an Advance Directive. This is important so that your doctor and your loved ones will know what to do medically if you are ever incapacitated and unable to communicate your wishes.  After completing this document, please give the original to your agent to keep in a secure but easily accessible place .  Please send a copy of the signed original to your primary care physician and anyone else who needs to know of your directive.

  • This link takes you to the government site that provides resources to help you understand their prescription benefit program.
  • Breast Cancer Risk Calculator
  • This tool can help women determine their risk of breast cancer so that they can seek appropriate evaluation and treatment
  • Screening tool for mood disorders
  • This survey can be used as an initial screening for mood disorders.  It should not be used to make self diagnosis, but it might help you decide whether you would like to bring this up with your physician. It is sponsored by a pharmaceutical company, but it is a tool that has been validated by others who are more objective.
